Matri is
an opportunity for Gujarati youth throughout the
United States and the world to meet each other. While our
main focus is to give them an opportunity to find a
life partner we also encourage them to make friends,
business contacts and associates. This year our 13th
matrimonial annual convention to be held on Saturday, July
28, 2007 at Ramda Inn, NJ. And there will
be Pre-Matri night at 7:00pm till midnight on Friday,
July 27th, 2007 . The pre-Matri night is open to
participants only and Parents/Guardians are not
admitted. Although the attendance is optional,
participants are encouraged to attend the pre-Matri
night. We have an ice breaking events that will be very
helpful for the main event on Saturday. And there will be plenty of food, music to dance and chance to mingle with the people. The dress code for the pre-Matri night is business casual.
The program begins officially after registration. Two
to three weeks prior to the event a booklet with basic
biodata is sent to all participants OR Information
regarding the candidate through email.
The actual event begins the evening before the
convention with an informal gathering, registered
participants involve themselves in various ice breaking
events, thus familiarizing themselves with one another.
The next morning is official registration and
breakfast at which time participants may bring their
parents and/or guardians. During registration each
participant is given a booklet with the basic biodata
and color photo of each participant. Also we give them a
form which contains the listing of the
participant/candidates who have selected them to meet
during the event.
The program begins with a welcome address by the
coordinator. At this time, Matri Inc. acknowledge
financial support and participating organizations for
their contribution and effort to make Matri a successful
event.
PARTICIPANT INTRODUCTION:
There are two young emcees that first invite all
female participants followed by all male participants in
order of their registration number. Each participant
will come on stage and introduce himself or herself. The
introduction should include registration number, name,
education, profession and hobbies. Each participant is
given 30 to 40 seconds for the introduction.
After introduction, participants and their parents
gets break for lunch, where participants will have yet
another opportunity to mingle with other participants.
After lunch the parents are moved to a separate location
for a parents meeting conducted by our adult
volunteers.
INDIVIDUAL INTERVIEWS:
Participants will be divided in the group of 10 (5
male and 5 female). There will be one coordinator per
group, who will assist them during the interview process
and throughout the convention.
During this session, participant will have an
opportunity to meet one-on-one with selected
participants of their own choice. Each participant will
have an opportunity to meet as many individuals of their
choice, with the consent of the other
participant.
PARENTS MEETING:
Simultaneously, parents/guardians meet in another
room with adult volunteers, where they discuss about the
marriages of their children as well as <>general
discussions.
After the participant and parents meeting, there will
be a general meeting where comments and suggestions will
be entertained from both, participants and
parents/guardians. Dinner will be served as the last
part of the day. At this time, further informal meetings
are
encouraged.
